I think we are looking at 2 different Families here!

Thomas STIMPSON is in Wales in 1881, born c 1846, Whisentide, Rutland.

Thomas is easy to find 1871/1881 in Wales, 1871 under Stimson born c 1848, Rutland.

1861 Census he is not with possible Parents in Glamorgan, Wales;
William born c 1815, Whissendine, Ruttland
Ann born c 1815, no POB shown
RG9/4041/56/5

Trees have Ann born c 1812, Nth Luffenham, Rutland and the IGI confirms a Christening for Ann of that date.

I agree, I can see registrations for the children shown in the census records incl James Q4 1846. There is also a Thomas in Q3 1846.

Are you sure about those dates

1841 census shows eldest child aged 6 so any marriage would be pre- civil registration

Also - Ann is shows as not born in county so they may possibly have married elsewhere (1851 shows Leics)

May I thank Trish, Carole and David for their input to my enquiry it has been very much appreciated, and I am going to apply for marriage certificate for Ann Broughton September 1842 Uppingham to see what may arise.

I think you will be wasting £9.25 - have you not seen my reply above re: this marriage?

There is no matching record for Stimpson/Stimson on the full GRO index

When there is an uneven number of male/female names you can do a cross match against the full GRO index

So - looking for William Stimson or Stimpson in the same quarter and year as the Broughton marriage shows no entry with the same name or reference which means Ann married somebody else
