Hi Julie.
I hope your still on Rootschat.
This is further to replies from May 05.
The 1871 census wasn't quite complete. The last entry shown was
Robert Stratis EBBUTT.
This should be Robert Streeter EBBUTT and is followed by,
Florence Mary EBBUTT,dau,8,Surrey Croydon
Ashley Simmons Ebbutt,son,6,Surrey Croydon
Robert STREETER,wifes father,77,retired butcher,Surrey Croydon.
As you can see Louisa STREETER was the daughter of Robert STREETER.
The following is from "Croydon in the Past" and refers to burials at Queens Road Cemetery,Croydon.
Robert Streeter d.April 23rd 1873 aged 79.
This was added, under the above,in the book which was published in 1883.
"Mr Streeter was formerly a butcher in Surrey Street(then called Butchers Row),
and carried on business in the shop now occupied by Mr.Dunham.His father also carried on an extensive business as a butcher for many years, and the family were well known and respected."
Below this reads,
Louisa,his daughter,and wife of Thos.Henry Ebbutt,died Nov.29th 1874 aged 41.
Maybe,in 1871,Loiusa had removed to Brighton due to illness?
This is from FreeBMD.
Marriage of Thomas Henry EBBUTT,June Qt,1853,St Saviour,Vol 1d,Page 20.On the same page is Louisa STREETER.
In 1901 Robert Streeter EBBUTT was a local undertaker, having followed in the steps of his father. His business and home was at Smitham Bottom,in Beddington Parish.
He appears on the 1918 Electoral Roll as residing at 26 St.Peter's Road,Croydon along with his wife Flora.
Although I have done some research on the Croydon STREETERs(on behalf of my wife),I regret this STREETER line is unconnected.
Regards,
Dave.
