Cheers

Thanks again

If you feel like digging any further for me, Dinah Phillips parents were Louis Phillips and Esther Beck. I believe Esther's mother was Sarah Jacobs and I think her father was Henry Beck. Can anyone confirm this for me and possibly go further.

Again thanks for your work It has been greatly appreciated

The marriage of Dinah PHILLIPS says she was born in Hobart. There is also an earlier marriage for her to a Phillip Phillips in 1872 in Victoria.
Ref = 3461

Phillip Phillips born London died in 1877 aged 33.
Father = Moses PHILLIPS and Mother = Rosy WOOLFF
Ref = 5553

They had a child Phillip Louis PHILLIPS born 1877 in Melbourne.
Ref = 23583
He died aged 17 months in 1879.    :'(
Ref = 5418

So it seems Dinah was a widow when she married Abraham.

Thanks Dee, you are right. I am so stoked I have been stuck on this for so long and now I have some sort of idea if the family. I ahve been able to go back on other sides of the family all in England to late 1600/early 1700's but the jewish side had me stumped.

I am also trying ti find Richard Robert Stewart who married Sophia Utting Sutch in Melbourne. Richard was married before and lost his wife and 2 children but don't know their names or what happened. Don't even know if it happened in England, on the way out or in Australia. I have a transcript of the marriage certificate for Richard and Sophia and have Richards father as Joseph and mother as Hannah but cannot read her surname. Believe he was born Norwich 1814. He was widowed 1845 and married Sophia 1854.

Hi Dianne,

Glad this information was helpful to you.  :D

Do you know what happened to Hannah Isaacs born c1829?

Is she the Rachael Isaacs who married Morris Cohen?

I see in the family notices on http://trove.nla.gov.au that she is named as
Raie Cohen.
I have tried to find a death for her but nothing found so far  :-\

yes am aware of Dinah's first marriage and loss of her child who hung himself trying to get out of his cot. Very sad indeed. Actually read the inquest info on it.

Oh poor baby and poor Mum!   :'(   :'(

Dinah's death.....

Dinah ISAACS aged 39 died in 1895 in Carlton.
Father: given as Henry Lewis and mother as Esther BECK
Ref = 8596

This raises a question about her father's name. Do you have Dinah and Abraham's marriage certificate, Diane? If not, it may pay you to obtain the digital copy, as it should have lots of information on it. Ask if you are unsure how where/how to do so.

if you already have it, can you post any information from it on here to give us some pointers?

As for your latest question about Richard Robert Stewart, I think you'd be better to start a new thread for him, probably on the Australian Board. In fact, we probably should get a moderator to move this thread to the Australian Board too, where you may get more help.

I see Louis PHILLIPS and Esther BECK and three children including Dinah listed on the Tasmanian Family Links site. No parents named for Esther and no marriage there either. So maybe we need to look elsewhere.    :-\

It sounds like you have some documents already.
