not that many Pembroke or similar in Co Wexford on either the 1901 or 1911 return.

Other than Martin, Elizabeth and their Nephew in 1901, there's a family in Enniscorthy a Tipperary born Margaret Pembroke in Johnstown, and an Annie Pembroke in Tomadilly. In 1911 there's just the Ballywilliamroe and Irish Street, Enniscorthy Pembrokes.

The BMD Index shows a few more Pembroke listings in the area with about 45 in total in the Enniscorthy district and just the one in Gorey district (Martin's marriage). Just 2 entries that I can see as Pembrick - both marriages in Enniscorthy in 1864 and 1875.

thank you for your help I think the marriage of Martin in the Gorey area is Martin that lived in Ballywilliamroe as his wife was originally from Monaseed

Tomahurra, I have just joined this site when the Pembrick/Pembroke/Ballywilliamroe post came up in a google search. I  do have a little further information on this family if it is still of interest. Martin Pembroke was my Great Uncle and his father, Michael Pembroke was my Great Great Grandfather.

And the Irish Street Pembrokes mentioned by shanew147 are my great grandfather, Joseph Pembroke and my grandmother, Sarah Pembroke. My father, Michael Doyle, also grew up in that house.

A couple of further pieces of information on the Pembrokes... One of my grandmother's uncles, John, emigrated to Australia, and one of her brothers, Joseph, followed in the 1920's. I also just discovered that another uncle, James, emigrated to Canada (where I have now lived for many years) in the 1860's. That was never previously known in my family. There were very few Pembrokes in Wexford - in fact all of them are probably descended from Michael (c.1806 - 1880). There are quite a few more in Kilkenny and Kerry so that is likely where Michael hailed from, though I have yet to make that link. And I had a couple of very interesting finds on a recent trip to Ireland.
