Hi, hope this will work: I represent a Dutch heritage foundation (WO2GO) who are trying to retell the story of allied airmen who did on our island during WWII.  We remember them by making information boards on the crash en writing a few books. We already had family and relatives coming to visit us from USA, Canada and the UK to officially unveil these boards.

On Mai 28th 1944 a RAF Lancaster bomber crashed nearby the village where I live. All seven airmen died. On of them was
Sgt K.J.  (Kenneth John) Power 
Son of John and Gladys Ivy Power, of Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire.

Is there anyone who can help me find his family?  If so, would you please contact me?

cwgc website shows he was 22 when he died so this is his birth reg

Births March qtr 1922   
Kenneth J  Power - mothers maiden name Amps -  Peterborough  3b see J31 (the GRO index shows this entry as a handwritten one at the end of the page)

His parents had 9 children born between 1921-1931 and Kenneth J Power mmn Amps appears again as June qtr 1931 3b 250

There were in fact only 5 children born - 4 of them (K.J. being one) are recorded twice - looks like parents either amended them for some reason or omitted to register them at the correct time.

K.J. had 3 sisters and 1 brother - unfortunately the brother died when he was 12 years old in 1940.

Mum Gladys was b 1903 Peterborough but no marriage found

Hi Kees...Am I to understand that of your 8 crew members families that you are looking for relatives of... that you have only made contact with the East Riding family that I put you in touch with
I should mention that there is a photo of the air crew of the ill fated Lancaster bomber that Pat & Brian sent to me along with the photos of their visit to Holland...would you be happy for me to attach the photo Kees as someone just may recognise ?

Hi, of the 8 crew of this aircraft I found three families in total but two of them I kew already. so the East Riding link helped me with the third. No other results I'm afraid......
I gave the photo of the crew to Pat & Brian.

  I am raising this post in the hope that the good hearted Rootschatters can help Kees and the Wo2go in their search for the relatives of 8 brave airmen who lost their lives when their Lancaster bomber was brought down by enemy fire. The pilot averted further death and injury to civilians on the ground by diverting the stricken plane and landing in a field.

We have found relatives for one of the crew who have visited Holland recently and met with Kees and witnessed the wonderful work that they have done to preserve the memory and resting places of these brave men.

Dear people on Rootschat, dear Carol,

Thank you very much on beforehand for trying to help our foundation in our search for relatives of the brave airmen who died on or near our island during WWII.

As a foundation we want to make sure those men are not forgotten nor why they fought and gave their lives. It's very hard for us over here in The Netherlands to find relatives after all these years. All help is welcome, so again thank you very much!
