Crimea Medal List
« on: Monday 06 February 12 15:53 GMT (UK) »
Message for ' Lime ' - I have a 3573 Sgt C O ( or C C ) CALLAG(H)AN listed as receiving the Crimea Medal.  Sadly I do not have a Regiment for him.  Would this be okay to post for you?  I know a Regiment will make it easier.  I would like to know if he has any bar/clasps to this medal and the Regiment he was in please?

Many thanks

There is an entry for a Staff Sergeant Charles Callaghan of the Medical Corps. The middle initial has been indexed by Ancestry as C, but it could be O.

If you have an Ancestry account try - http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=1686&iid=31794_221403-00238&fn=Charles+C&ln=Callaghan&st=d&ssrc=&pid=433944

There is no regimental number. I think this entry is in the section for Alma and Inkerman. You will have to press PREVIOUS a few times to confirm. The Sebastopol section is further on.

It may be easier to look for a service record on Findmypast.

Ken

Hi Ken, futher to research, I have found that this guy id Charles O'CALLAGHAN and not as I mentioned earlier.  I have found him however but am wondering if you or anyone has a copy of the **CWRS Special Publication 6**, which lists those of the Crimea War who were awarded the French Military Medal, aparently there were 400 soldiers.
I think my man also has clasps for Alma, Inkerman and Sevastopol.
Regards and thanks, Mikkimac

his service record confirms Crimean medal with clasp for Sebastopol. Also Turkish medal.  also India medal with clasp for central India. He was in the 88th....finished as  Sergeant major 68th brigade.
