*slipping quietly in through the back door, and standing at the back of the crowd as everyone raises a glass to celebrate Rootschats 8th birthday*

Happy Birthday Rootschat.

Its been a long time since I have been here.

But I'm back now. Not necessarily to do genealogy but more to learn the ins and outs of HOW to do genealogy.  Where to go to find stuff, how to find records, how to use the internet to find records, whats paid and what is free and what to look out for when its free..  etc etc.

I don't want to do lookups, I have gone about as far as I can with my own genealogy for now unless and until new records become available.

So I want to teach newbies how to use the internet for their genealogy.

I plan on writing some e-books as well.

Them's my plans.
BURROW, BICKHAM, EVANS, SULLEY, STONE - Devon
STEPHENS, MALLET, ADAMS - Cornwall
HANCOCK , BUSSON - Somerset
MCCALLUM, MCDIARMID, MCNEILL - Argyle, Scotland
WALLS, SUTHERLAND, SIMPSON - Orkney, Scotland
FAIRBAIRN - Fife, Scotland
THOMPSON - Aberdeen, Scotland

I'm very new to this Roots thing and couldn't work out how to contact jacqlineue, but my family are Garbutt from Ashington a very large family of miners, my gran was Thomasina Garbutt and the picture I see looks very like her, there is a Clark in your list too my Gran had a daughter Mary who married a man with the surname Clark - forgive me if this is not how I contact you but I'm a bit lost !! - regards Linda Cassidy
