I am looking for any information on William Holmes Sullivan, artist, and his descendants.  I know he and his wife Mary had 2 daughters one of whom is Mary Elizabeth who married William John Robinson.  They had 5 children: Maude, Alice (my grandmother), Jack, Margaret and Fanny.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Rootschat

Can you please provide a timeframe for your William Holmes SULLIVAN.

Is he the one born in Liverpool in 1833 and died in Brentford in 1907, wife Mary JONES. If so there is a public tree on A******y for him, with four children, two sons and two daughters.

Ian,

Thank you for your information, I will check it out now that I have accurate dates!   I had several different years of birth and death so it difficult to know which ones were right!
Yes, we tried Google and all we got were pages of his paintings, no other biographic info.

My great uncle was William Sullivan, born in 1870 and he had a sister by the name of Alice Maude. I think that this is too much of a coincidence to be inaccurate, especially considering that my great grandfather, William Sullivan was a picture framer. I have a photo of the family which shows his eight children, including William (junior) which I will gladly send to you. I can trace the family back a further 2 generations for you, if you are interested.

Hi Terence

According to her profile, Ellen hasn't been online here since making her original posts last year.

As long as she hasn't changed her email address she should receive notifications that we have posted here and hopefully come back soon.

William Holmes Sullivan was my Great Great Grandfather on my mother's side. He was born in Liverpool in 1833. He worked as a draughtsman and stained glass worker, and moved to London to become an artist. He must have been fairly successful as an artist. You can find numerous art works if you Google his name.
William Holmes was married to Mary Jones.
They had 4 children:
- Elizabeth (1859 - 1929)
- twins Samuel and Thomas (my Great grandfather) born in 1861. Thomas died in 1892, Samuel died in 1924
- Mary Eliza (1872 - 1948)
William Holmes dies in Brentford in 1907.
Mary Jones dies in Brentford in 1922.
William H, Mary and Elizabeth were buried in the same grave in Acton Cemetery.
I have quite a lot related to the family in my Willetts Family tree in Ancestry
Please let me know if you need anymore info.
