The site must surely be aware of downturn in usage and hopefully when they get it up and running again they will send out an email to this effect.
I can not remember how many weeks it is since I last managed to access the site .

Yes , this is not the first time they have gone down.
If I recall it is at least the third time since it began.

GOOD NEWS:
TalkingScot is now back online on its new host web server. The web address should make its way around the web over the next 24 hours. You may be able to access the site now; if not you should gain access at some point over the next 24 hours.

I suggest that you don't rely on old links. Make a new start with the full
www.talkingscot.com
address.
A search has just taken me to that site, AND given me access to the forum hit. A first for many weeks. Previously got a broken link message.
