Bertram H.C. Fink COMPLETED WITH MANY THANKS
« on: Thursday 02 February 12 11:10 GMT (UK) »
I would be grateful if anyone can help with this.

I am trying to trace Florence Louisa Fink and her son Bertram Henry C. Fink after 1904.  I have full details of them prior to then.

Florence was born 1872 in London (maiden name Fisk, similar I know to her married name!)  She married Henry Fink in 1896 and Bertram Henry C. Fink was born 1898.  Henry Fink died in 1900 and in 1901 Florence and Bertram are living in Lambeth.

In January 1904 a Mrs. F.L. Fink and a Bertram Fink sailed for the Cape, South Africa.  I assumed to visit her brother Ernest Fisk who was already living there.

However I have never been able to trace them returning to or living/marrying/dying in England after then and recently when I was doing a periodic search I found the reference to a Bertram Edward Clayton Fink.

I can’t find him on NAAIRs.   The fact that the name Clayton also features in Florence’s family leads me to think this must be the one I have been looking for.

I imagine he must have been an adult to be on that Index?  Is there anywhere to look for further information please.

Selina

Added:  To save confusion the 1928 Marriage of a Florence L. Fink to Henry W.G. Collinson, Southwark district is definitely not the one I seek.

Hi I found a document in this archive when I typed in the name. Try this link. http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm200gi.

Then click on the RSA repository box, when it opens type in Fisk Ernest and enter. A list of 2 documents will appear, just click on Result Summary.Appears he died in 1955.

The Genealogical Society of South Africa has a "pay to use" service which will enable you to obtain pictures of documents held in the National Archives.

Go to http://www.eggsa.org and select Content --> On Line Shop --> order Archive documents.  Once you have selected the currency, select "Enter the Shop" and then select "Archive photos" (in yellow on the blue band) and follow the instructions.

Much quicker than trying to get the Archives to reply to your e-mail requests!!  Good luck Derek.
I typed in Fink first line then Florence second line and enter, result summary had one result which is this, MMK7590/1-989  Griqualand West Board of Executors.  1900 1960.Perhaps some of the other users may be able to tell us what this means??

Thank you Derek.  Unfortunately that isn't the Ernest Fisk who was the Uncle of Bertram Fink as my Ernest died in 1919 (this is mentioned on a card sent to a relation in England).

I will note the information regarding pictures of documents, thanks for the link.

Thank you very much indeed ShashF!

I am sure that is who I have been looking for, there really can't be many males called Bertram Edward C. Fink, and when the C turned out to be Clayton I think that clinched it.  Everything fits.

I am just amazed that he was still alive in 1982 and close relations in England didn't know.

Thanks again for your speedy help.

I have only just noticed that in my original request I called him Bertram HENRY C. Fink.

I must have had his father's name on my brain.  He was definitely Bertram EDWARD C. Fink.
