The death certificate may have the incorrect details for the parents (if it is the right Hannah), but it should give you a lead to her birthplace and a possible certificate, which should then shed light on Jane.
I think you should consider sending away for the death certificate.
I am Australian, from all the lands I come (my ancestors, at least!)

Pine/Pyne, Dowdeswell, Kempster, Sando/Sandoe/Sandow, Nancarrow, Hounslow, Youatt, Richardson, Jarmyn, Oxlade, Coad, Kelsey, Crampton, Lindner, Pittaway, and too many others to name.
Devon, Dorset, Gloucs, Cornwall, Warwickshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire, Wilts, Germany, Sweden, and of course London, to name a few.

Regarding the death notices, what struck me about the 2 separate ones for the children was that maybe they didn't know each other existed, or there had been a family split.
How are you connected to Hannah (and Jane) ? It might be worthwhile tracing other descendants of the other children. You never know what info or documentation they might have.

Thanks for all your help everyone I really appreciate the input.  I will consider sending for the death certificate.  I don't think the two families new of each other, we didn't even know Hannah had a brother so interesting.

Hi

on the death notice for Henry Willcox the word father may be a misprint.

maybe it should be brother of Emily Lucas and Thomas Wilcox.

NSW Emily Willcox born 1875 Redfern father John mother Louisa, Thomas E born 1865.

I have had a death notice  state wife when it should have been mother ( it was not corrected)

Thanks Muss & Cando.  :) I had found Lousia 's death but hadn't found the notice in Trove so that will give me more to go on.  Should keep me busy for a while.

Hi Lin,

Re Jane,

Have you confirmed that Jane worked in Queen Victoria's household as a maid before coming to Australia?  Do you have Jane on any UK census records .... this will help determine when she came to Australia.

Is it possible that Jane returned to England after Hannah was born, leaving Hannah in NSW, perhaps fostered out to a family?  Have you looked for Jane as an incoming passenger returning to the UK?

Do you have any knowledge as to Jane's parents names please ....

Cheers,  JM

Here is what I know.  Born in UK guessing around 1867.  Died in Australia before 1907.  One child that we know of Hannah Louisa Willcox born 1887 Australia.  Worked in Queen Victoria's household as a maid before coming to Australia.  Can't seem to find her immigration records, or death certificate.  Any help would be appreciated.

It has only been passed down verbally that she worked in the household.  Don't have anything on her except her name and that she was deceased when Hannah married in 1907.  There have been a few Jane Harrison coming into Australia, but can't confirm any with so little information .  I have found some on the English census but with so little information it is just guess work. Interestingly there is a Jane Harrison that shows up on NSW Registers for the Randwick Asylum for destitute children but I can't access the record, thought it might have something to do with Hannah.  Thanks
