Jane HARRISON
« on: Monday 30 January 12 09:53 GMT (UK) »
Here is what I know.  Born in UK guessing around 1867.  Died in Australia before 1907.  One child that we know of Hannah Louisa Willcox born 1887 Australia.  Worked in Queen Victoria's household as a maid before coming to Australia.  Can't seem to find her immigration records, or death certificate.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you know Jane died in Australia, your best avenue would be to trace her death record. If she died in NSW or Victoria, you should have a good chance of tracing her origin. The death records for those 2 states have a lot of information normally.
Try posting a lookup request in the Australia board.

Hi Lin!!!,
I can't find the birth of Hannah Louisa Willcox (or Harrison) - do you know which state she was born in?

Did Jane marry Willcox - I can't find a marriage either.

Is there any more information such as Jane's parents available please?

regards,
    Ros

Thanks Ros.  That was the same problem I was coming up with.  We did track down Henry Willcox with the help of RootsChat but when I sent for his death certificate it says he wasn't married so now not sure whether he married Jane and I also couldn't find Hannah's birth certificate just her marriage and death certificate.  Hannah was living in NSW.  That is the problem, we don't have much information only what was on Hannah's marriage certificate.

Hi Lin,
  Is this Hannah's marriage?
Hannah D Willcox in 1907 to David E Powell in Newtown  NSW?  What does the marriage certificate give as her middle name?

cheers,
  Ros

Yes that is it.  Middle name on certificate is Louisa, see my previous posting Willcox/Harrison as that explains a bit more about Hannah and what we know.  Thanks again.

Does Henry's death cert name all of the children in his death notices - Hannah, Emily, Thomas and Jack?

Unfortunately no, as it is marked not married across both boxes.  The certificate was not much help as the informant doesn't seem to know much about him, he died in hospital and the informant wasn't a family member.
