Cross Inn and Castle Inn, Llantrisant, Glamorgan

Looking for information on the Cross Inn, which I believe the James family owned/operated in the mid-1800's.  Can anyone tell me exactly where it was located and if the building still exists today?  I'm also searching for information about the Castle Inn, which the Pratt family either lived in or ran in 1881.  It was located on Sir David's Place.

Hi,
The Cross Inn still exists and you can see it on G**gle maps.

Try putting in Main Road, Llantrisant
It is on the T Junction between Main Rd and Cross Inn Rd

The Castle Inn seemed to be on St David's Place (rather than Sir David's, which is written on the census), but was definitely a nearby street to Newbridge Road, Llantrisant.

Genuki has a list of Llantrisant pubs and publicans, which includes Cross Inn:

The Shrewsbury Arms, Newbridge Rd, was in the same enumeration district as the Castle Inn.

Just noticed this thread. I am looking for the birth place of my grandfather. His Birth Certificate states that he, Arthur Frederick Hedges, was born in October 1911 at OAKLEY INN, CROSS ROAD, LLANTRISANT. On the same certificate it states that his mother, Mary, who is the informant lives at OAKLEY, CROSS INN, LLANTRISANT. (A slight variation.) I can find no record of this address. The first address suggests it is a pub, (which we were always lead to believe is where he was born. ) I live close to Llantrisant and do not know if there was actually a pub called this. One of the people posting on here has found out for me that an Oakley Villa existed on Cross Inn Road, but after seeing this posting I was just wondering if anyone knew any different? Thanks.

There appears to have been a family named Oakley living in or near Llantrisant in 1901 and 1911. You could check the census to see exactly where it was they lived. It would all make sense if they lived in or near the village of Cross Inn. If 'Inn' was written above 'Cross Road' it was probably meant to be between those two words.
