Mary Elisabeth Martin

Hello, I am looking for information on a Mary Elisabeth Martin who married Pierce (Peter) Purcell in Hamilton on 13th June 1866. She was apparently 16 years old at the the time and married with her fathers permission. He was George Martin of Galloway St, Hamilton.
The couple later seperated or perhaps Mary died as Pierce returned to Melbourne and married again in 1873. I don't know if there were any children from the marriage to Mary.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, GBP

Do you think Mary may have travelled back with him and perhaps died in Aussie, before his next marriage?

This lady is proving to be a bit of a problem as there is not much info about her. We know that Pierce travelled back to OZ but apparently not with Mary.
Would there be anywhere in hamilton NZ that might hav einfo about her? GBP

at BMD online you will see later marriages for Mary Elizabeth Martin's
so a possibility that if that young she has married again using her single name
(going by examples in my own family)


did they marry in a church in Hamilton?
if so that church may have baptism records if they had children?
no obvious death's registered

It seems that the marriage took place at the home of  a Mr A. Buchanan of Clyde St, Hamilton.
How can I search the BDM in NZ? Thanks.
