Francis Joseph Fullam 1927
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 18:27 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information on a Francis Joseph Fullam who was born on the 1st March 1927 according to his death registration registered July 1996 Southend on Sea R.D, Essex.....

Francis was (so i'm told) born in Scotland, believed to be Leith? but I don't see his birth registration.....so was he Francis Joseph something else? was he adopted?

Joseph married in 1947 Rochford R.D, Essex....but a son was born in Leith, Scotland the following year followed by four siblings all born in the south of England........

Apparently his birth cert/registration has been looked for before with no success...was there a family of Fullam's living in the Leith area at that time or can anyone shed light on this mystery please

Hi Bryant,

Check out following link,  http://scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Search/results.aspx

there are 2 registrations for Francis Joseph Fullam, 1 in St Bernards, which is nearest to Leith and 1 in Canongate, both in 1927. Unfortunately, these are not online as they are within 100 year rule so you have to order I think they would cost £12 each.

Although I can see that there are two of the name in 1927 I don't seem able to extract the information on where the births occured as you have but hopefully one of them was born on March 1st

Thanks again

Hi Bryant,

I searched on births, then used 1 credit to get result of searches. That is where I got the parish names, St Bernards and Canongate from.

Hi Bryant,

There are two marriages in Midlothian around the time of Joseph's birth that may be applicable for his parents. They are:

John Joseph Fullam and Margaret Edwards or Stewart - 1920 - St. Giles, Edinburgh
Joseph S Fullam and Isabella Heggie - 1916 - Leith South

The only way to know for sure which family he comes from would be to order his birth registration through SP (link given by Tom above) and/or order a copy of marriage certificate which should give a father's name and occupation.

I am the amateur editor of the Fulham- Fullem- Fullam- Fulm family history site. We have re-united 76 lineages of our direct DNA Genetic family internationally. We can be found on the open free internet genealogy sites.

We have traced our forebears back to the village in Middlesex which was were we where first recorded as French Military in the Domesday Book and where we held Land and we take our English surname. Prior to 1220's City of London when we were known as le Blund de Foleham.

The spelling of Fullam is the version that has evolved in Ireland due to the local accents over the past centuries from 1200's, We held Land in Swords County Dublin as we were in the invasion army of the Earl of Pembroke.

There was a family who originated in the Shetland Islands and the children where born in Gravesend Kent and also in Sunderland later.
There was also a family form the City of Dublin who had children born in Scotland however they returned to Ireland.

I will record your information of our family site and post the birth and death dates of  Francis Joseph Fullam 1927.
