marriage date query

Hi

I wondered if some kind person would be able to help with this problem!  I have a  family with birth dates giving the parents marriage 20 June 1928 Pitlochry, however I cannot find their marriage anywhere I have checked Scotlands people online.  This has me completely confused as ALL the births mention the parents marriage date.  Anyone got any suggestions?

silly me

...the names are William Campbell and Elizabeth Gibb.  Elizabeth died in 2001 Irvine, lanarkshire and I think William died previous to that date.  Im fairly stumped on this one. unfortunately  dont have certificate for William yet.

I did a search on scotlandspeople and searched only on William Campbell no spouse listed

There is only 1 marriage in the whole of Perthshire in 1928 for a William campbell if you add Elizabeth Gibb you get no results you get the same result if you add christian name only (no result)

There is no Cam*bell/Gibb results for the whole of Scotland.

Unfortunately I have no credits at the moment to have a look.

I have tried the same methods as you have used and still getting no results.  I find it really odd that their childrens birth certs have got their parents marriage dates on them.  I found this out by visiting edinburgh register house and looking at a ll the births.  You have to order them on SP but you can look at them online in the actual building.   

The problem Im having at the moment is discovering if I have the right family to continue researching this line.

I wish to find info on William Campbell born 1905/06 in Glasgow.  He had a sister called Maud and I was able to look at 1911 census for this brother and sister.  One family have William and Maud with parents James Campbell & Matilda Jane Mckeon ; William J being born 27 MARCH 1905, and the other family is William James Campbell & Mary Stuart.  Im sure I have picked the correct family of being James & Matilda, so this is why I am trying to find the marriage of William Campbell & Elizabeth Gibb (1908-2001) to get the correct parents or even getting hold of his death cert.

Hi

There are a couple of possible reasons for not finding a marriage, they could have had an Irregular Marriage which was still legal back then. Gretna Green is probably the most well known but they occurred all over Scotland.
Another possibility is that they didn't actually marry but fibbed about it when registering the childrens births. Where the children born in Pitlochry?

...no Andy they were all born in Glasgow!!  I had considered them fibbing but they had 10 children!!
