I have a photo taken in 1922 of children holding the sign St Augustines. I thought it could relate to the church, maybe a Sunday school?
Is the school you mentioned still there?
Do you know when the houses in Barwick Street were demolished?

I just assumed a Sunday school. Am I right in thinking there is now a gasworks where Barwick Street was?

Hi Alan
No, I'm not from Manchester, I'm from Wales.
My Great grandfather lived at many addresses including ones in Harpurhey, Miles Platting and Prestwich.
I do have an old map of the areas and have pin pointed all of the many addresses. I have relatives buried at Phillips Park cemetery also.
My Grandfather was born in Barwick Street and my Great grandparents lived at that address until they passed away. I have no idea what the area is like now.
I believe my relatives may have attended St Augustines school near Barwick Street. It would be nice to pin point the school and see if I could find old records/pictures.

On page two (2) of this post it has a map find Sanderson st follow it up from Queens rd at the top righthand you will see (sch) that is the school, when did they live in live there this street was unusual as it only had house one side as it faced the side elevation of Abindon st at the top and Goglan st at the bottom, as kids we used to play postmans knock on the doors and run down the alleyway opposite the street.

Alan
I have just looked at the map....yes, I see.
I know they lived in the house from 1916 until at least 1939. I know that for sure from a death certificate. It's possible some members of the family lived there longer but I'm not yet sure.
The surname was Young. They lived at 49.
