Acomb Colliery Accident July 1945

I'm trying to obtain information on the above and any help would be appreciated.

Greetings from an expatriate Geordie, now living in Massachusetts, USA..

I was born in January of 1945, and lived at Mariner's Cottages, in Acomb.
I ring my Mam every Sunday, so I will ask her tomorrow if she has any recollection of the accident, and report back here later in the day..
