Hi Ray,

My father is using an old genealogy program running only under XP.

So it seems you could convert the GFT file into up-to-date  GEDCOM format.

Thanks in advance.

Hi dom107

. . . . .  and welcome to Rootschat.

I am willing to give it a go, however no guarantees, etc...

We would need to make/continue contact via email in order to keep your data secure.

As you are a new Rootschatter you would need to make another couple of posts before the Personal Message (pm) system opens up to you.
You would then need to send me your email address via personal message (pm).

Please confirm what program and version he has running on XP? (That;s the first of the 2 posts)

Ray

Hello,

I tested in Family tree and Heridis demo: It's working!
My father was quite pleased!

Thanks a lot for all your magic!

Well I may be the latest person to ask the generous Ray to help with gft files. I've scoured the Internet and Ray seems to be the only person who can do the conversion! I'm going to make three posts then send a message, hoping Ray is still using the site and helping people out.

Thanks Ray, I appreciate your time and efforts :) I'm going to see if the super old version of the software my MiL uses can be installed on an old PC I have as well, just as an experiment... if we can find the software and the computer.
