then a death record for 6 Oct 1963 in Ashburton, Christchurch.
Hello...
No actual help with your original request (sorry) but the date of death mentioned by both BDM NZ and the Ashburton cemetery website is
26 Oct 1963, not 6 Oct as you and a tree on Tribal Pages have cited. Can't access the ancestry tree mentioned so I don't know what that says but in this instance I'd trust BDM NZ.
Henry (Harry) is buried in an RSA plot at Ashburton. It might be worth comparing the Army serial number from the service records mentioned by Gortonboy (reply#1) to the plaque in Ashburton cemetery, just to make sure you've got the right man (or the right army service records).
Henry GREEN d.1963 of Ashburton seems to have been a member of the Salvation Army. It's possible that his parents were as well. I think I saw somewhere (WDYTYA?) that the Salvation Army sometimes keep BDM records. You could try googling "Salvation Army research" or similar.
There is a Rose Beatrice GREEN buried at Rangiora Cemetery. I think one of the rootschatters has a standing offer of photographing Rangiora cemetery headstones if you're interested, assuming this is the wife of Henry (Harry).
