Hello,
I am a historian from Egypt, and while I was working on an intriguing series of demonstrations that took place in Alexandria Egypt in 1907, to prevent the extradition of 3 Russian anarcho-syndicalists pursued by the tsarist authorities, I found the name of William Patrick Foley. He was arrested in the demonstrations, for having taken part in “the outrage at the Russian consulate” as reported by the Egyptian Gazette. He was then released on bail. The Alexandria city policy accused him of being at the head of the demonstrators and of having encouraged them. He was said to be one of the men who rushed upon the door of the Russian consulate and pulled down the coat of arms above the door, and also attempted to break it. The gazette reports that when Yousbashi Mussa effendi and constable John Iken tried to prevent him, he turned on them and assaulted them. Foley was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, and was incarcerated in Hadra prison (The Egyptian Gazette, 6 feb 1907, p.3). My hero:)
