Hi

Have you checked freebmd deaths from 1911 onwards?  This will give you the year and quarter in which he died

You won't be able to find any obituary or burial until  you establish when and where he died

Thanks,
I checked the registry ( http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?cite=VaOAeJImFzgdWlj8Uizhow&scan=1)
and think I found him:
 George H Osborne 1950 Dec., aged 72 , Chesterfield.
Do you know how to find an obit from here?
Many thanks for the suggestion and earlier reply!

Hi

That means he died sometime between 1st October and 31st December in one of the areas covered by the Chesterfield Registration district - see below.  It's possible he may still have been living in Whittington Moor as in 1911 but that's only an assumption

I doubt there are any online newspaper resources for that period - but I could well be wrong

If none exist - it would require a physical search of obituaries in which case you would need to buy a copy of his death cert to establish his exact date of death and where he died to narrow any search for either an obituary or his burial
