Glad I have been some assistance.  If only we could find Sarah in 1841 - that might help!

However, I would not be surprised if Sarah was the illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth Calow who married Joseph Baxter in Broughton Astley in 1778.  That might explain Sarah going to Broughton in 1801 (or perhaps still living there?) to be with Mum to have her own illegitimate daughter, who was to be named Elizabeth - possibly after her own mum.....

I am sure that you have this although I have a note of your John dying 29th August 1890 in Hinckley and being buried at the Ashby Road Cemetary on 30th August 1890.

Regards

Hi

This is an old post although i am still wondering if John Rickwood who married Mary Thorne in 1833 in Hinckley, Leics was a bigamist.

Like John Thorne from Bury St Edmunds he was a Shoemaker and there is no evidence of my John on the census' - just three children - born 1835, 1837 and 1840.

I will like to rule out the John Rickwood in Bury St Edmunds and as my John signed his name on the marriage entry i wondered if this matched either of the Bury St Edmunds John's records.

Can somebody please check the marriage between John Rickwood and Sarah Porter at St James, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk on 12th March 1831 and also his second marriage to Mary Abbot at Bury St Edmunds in Dec Q 1868 to see if the signature matches the one I previously posted?

A long shot i know but i cannot find any other possibilities at the moment.  Alternatively if anyone has anymore ideas or theories i would like to hear them.

Regards

Hi

I am still trying to uncover this mystery.

Can anybody help by checking the signatures for John Rickwood on his marriage entry to wife Sarah Porter on 12/03/1831 at St James, Bury St Edmunds and a second marriage to a Mary in 1868.

I am trying to establish if the signature matches a marriage in Leicestershire as I am wondering if he is a bigamist....

Thanks
