George Barwick-Hannah Bewick
« on: Sunday 22 January 12 04:57 GMT (UK) »
Seeking information on or researchers who have already located information about this couple.

They settled in Patrick Brompton sometime before 1785 when Mary, the first of their seven children (Mary, Hannah, Isabella, William, Sarah, Anne and Grace) was born.  Grace was the last, born in 1803.

Seeking information about George and Hannah's marriage, their parentage etc.  I don't know if they came from Patrick Brompton (or elsewhere).  Any information greatfully appreciated.

All my limited information comes from familysearch.org

I am the great-great-grandson of William - whose son, George, and brothers migrated to Ausralia from the late 1850s.

There are 7 public trees on ancestry. Two of them have William as the father of George Barwick and Arthur as the father of Hannah Berwick. However there are no sources listed for this information.
They also have George born 1760 at Kirkby Fleetham died 1837 Leyburn North Riding, Hannah born 1763 Kirkby Fleetham died 1831 buried 13 Nov 1837 St Patrick Patrick Brompton (from the National Burial Index)

Six of the trees have Hannah as Berwick one has her as Bewick.
There are also 7 private trees for this family on ancestry.

I took a look at another of the public trees and they have a baptism for your William son of George son of William of Newton weaver and son of Hannah daughter of Arthur of Newsome papermaker.

Thank you, very much for this valuable information that helps me clarify some residential as well as birth and death details for these people.

It looks as though I will have to join Ancestry.com to fully access the seven family trees to which you refer in your reply above.

Nevertheless, I am still keen to hear from any descendants of this family who may still be extant in North Yorkshire or researchers working on these families.

Hi Bill, my tree has George & Hannah, their daughter Grace is my husbands 3x great grandmother. I haven't traced a marriage for George & Hannah but got their fathers names from their childrens baptisms, for example Anne's (27 may 1798) reads "daughter of George, son of William Barwick of Newton, weaver and daughter of Hannah daughter of Arthur Bewick of Newsom, papermaker"

If you PM me your e-mail address I'll send you an invitation to view my tree on Ancestry.
