Same reason why that bridge in London was taken down and rebuilt in Arizona, or http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3433070 was dismantled in Japan and rebuilt in England.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

I believe that the house had fallen into disrepair under the laird, Stephen Lockhart (Murray's son) and he was at the time a British diplomat stationed overseas. The house went through a period of being available for rent.

One might presume that Japanese celebrity who bought the house was in the market for something like this and property agents were able to do the necessary introductions.

In the last year or two the property has been acquired by a Scottish family and a new, rather elegant, home has been built on this site.
