Has anyone seen the name McGoverne with an e on the end?

Hi all, very new to Rootschat,
 Has anyone seen the name McGoverne, definitely spelled with an (e) on the end? In all my trawling around the internet Ive only seen it spelled that way for 2 families and I hope they are connected. Many thanks if anyone can answer.  Tracy in New Zealand.

No - I have never seen the name with an 'e' on the end.  It could mean that the two families you have found are connected but could equally mean the same misspelling of the version without the 'e'.  Can you tell us any more about the two families?

Lots of families by the name of McGovern in the Phone Book for Northern Ireland. None of them with an " e " on the end.

I don't know if this will be of any interest, but I have a marriage certificate dated  April 17 1853, of a James Shaughnessy  marrying Mary White, in Salford, Lancs. One of the names of the 2 witnesses of their marriage  looks to me to be James W. McGoveren.  James Shaughnessy was born in Ireland but no county was listed. he emigrated to England with his father, mother, and brother. between 1833 and 1843.  Perhaps try the census for Salford 1851?

Thanks to all who read and answered my post about the McGoverne spelling with an (e).
All the census indexes, and images I've seen definitely have an (e) on the end. It's my surname too.
This is my tree on the male McGoverne line.
Robert William McGoverne, born c1838, Scotland.
Frederick Edward McGoverne, born 1872 Burma.
Lionel Beaumont McGoverne, born  1901 Woolwich
Lionel Courtnais Joseph McGoverne, born 1922 New Zealand.

New to RootsChat and therefore only just come across this topic although it was started in March 05 -

 My maiden name was McGoverne born 1942 have spent all but the first few days of my life in Sheffield
 Yorkshire. My mother was evacuated a few days prior to my birth due to blitz over Sheffield.

 My father was born illegitimate in 1910 and was brought up by his grandmother believing his mother
 to be his sister. 

 It is understood that my grandmother's ancestors emigrated from Ireland due to the Potato Famine.
 
 I have also been told that we have relatives in New Zealand,be interesting to know if there's any connections Tracy?

Rivelinlass. Mike has sent me a mass of info on the McGoverne's. I am descended from Michael Mc Governe ( b1814 , Donagh, Co. Monaghan) and live in Sheffield. I guess we are related and from your user name I guess you also live in this fair City . Love to hear from you....as would Mike!

I havent seen McGovern spelt with an e.
However my ggrandfather was McGovern.
When I got his Marriage Cert. of 1883 it was spelt as Megauvran.
It could well be that is how it  both sounded to the Registrar of the time,who was not Irish
