James  b 20 Nov 1814 Foveran married Elizabeth Cooper b 1817 Peterhead on 12 Apr 1841 Peterhead
family George b 15 Nov 1838 Mary Ann b 1843 William b 2 Jul 1849 Alexander b 22 Jun 1853
James b 17 Aug 1856 Elizabeth b 22 Jan 1844
Got James 1814 death in 1881 Peterhead cant get his wifes death
in 1861census in peterhead with 4 children
1871 in Ellis  street Peterhead
1881 in Mitchels Court Aberdeen her self
1891 in West North St Aberdeen so she must have died after 1891
also the son George 1838 according to some people on ancestry have him with 3 different parents

on his death icert parents James Reid & Mary Hutchison
Notice he was born in 1838 but never with his parents in Peterhead so maybe adopted what do you think?

In 1851 Elizabeth is with 3 of her children (Mary Ann, Elizabeth and William) at a lodging house for the 'working and humble classes' at Edinburgh. No sign of James or George there.

There is this George in 1851 at Banffshire as transcribed at Ancestry)-

James Bead   37 born Keith, Banffshire, Tollkeeper
Mary Bead   30
Mary Bead   17 born Peterhead
George Bead   12 born Peterhead)
Millon Bead   10 ( I think this could be Helen)
James Bead   8
Aleander Bead   6
Thomas Bead   3
Jannet Bead   9m

This looks like the same family in 1841
1841/126  Fochabers Bellie

 James REID   25       Labourer     not born in county        
 Margaret   REID    25     not born in county
 Mary REID 5   not born in county         
 George   REID    2 not born in county         
 Helen REID 1 not born in county        

This couple are still together in 1861 at Keith. I think it's likely that the death entry for the George you found has the correct parents.

Who did George who married Betsy Stuart give as his parents when he married and what was his father's occupation?

George was born before James married Elizabeth, so perhaps she was his stepmother. Where did George state he was born? (on the censuses). If George married, his parents names will appear on his marriage certificate.

Sorry I didn't see your posts and have been adding to mine.

Yes - pretty sure there were 2 James Reids.

I didn't notice the births to James and Elizabeth were submissions at the IGI.

BTW in 1861 James who married Elizabeth Cooper says he was born at Peterhead.

Later................I've seen the marriage entry that somebody put on Ancestry and George gives his parents as James and Mary Hutchison.

The George Reid married to Betsy Stuart parents were James Reid & Mary Hutchison
so what happened to the George b 1838 Peterhead to James Reid & Elizabeth Cooper and also cant find her death maybe he died before they married

sorry about that Flst but seems a bit confusing on ancestry
James Reid &  Elizabeth Cooper had a son George b 15 nov 1838 Peterhead on IGI
somebody on ancestry had him married to Betsy Stuart which is wrong as his parents are James Reid & Mary Hutchison so it appears George b1838 must have died and also cant get his mother Elizabeth Cooper

             Elisabeth Cooper died 31 Dec 1889 in PD and is buried in the old kirkyard.
             her parents were William Cooper and Elisabeth Forbes
