Dear All,
It has been fascinating to read all about the Welsby's and Humfreys etc. I am wondering if anyone has any further info on Margaret Humfrey Browne (nee Welsby)? - having googled etc for the last few hours, I now have a little ...
For some time I believed my grandmother's cousin Meyrick Gouldsbury Browne had died - the last report of him I'd found was 'wounded and missing' in July, 1916! Yesterday I found out he'd married Margaret in 1920!!! I rushed around saying "He's not dead! He's not dead!" as though I was transported back 96 years! I was thrilled to say the least. And now I have found all of you ...
If someone would like to catch up on this side of the family, I'd be happy to continue on as a private post.
Meanwhile, coincidentally, Meyrick's cousin Annesley, a naval doctor, was awarded the DSC in a similar situation to Thomas Humfrey - ie. rescuing sailors from a torpedoed ship!
Looking forward to hearing from anyone.
Kind regards,
Francesr
