Hi Dave,

FreeBMD has this birth registration:

March Quarter 1846 Halifax Registration District  George Waite. You could send for the birth certificate to find out the names of his parents.

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl

The Family Search website   http://www.rootschat.com/links/0jkh/

has a baptism for an Edward Alfred Waites on 24 Aug 1823 in Liversedge, West Yorkshire (about 4 miles up the road from Dewsbury), son of Sarah Waites. As there is no father's name mentioned, it is likely that Edward was illegitimate.

Hope that's some help.

Jill
HELP!!!

 BATHSHEBA BOOTHROYD bn c. 1802 W. Yorks.

Baptism nowhere to be found. Possibly in a nonconformist church near ALMONDBURY or HUDDERSFIELD.

right i think i am going to have to start from scratch again ?? ???
i have my fathers birth certificate he was born
16th july 1922 in dewsbury
on his birth certificate it gives father as
george waite
mother as florence may waite formerly watson
at that time they were living at 11 pit street dewsbury
i know my father was the youngest of 3 children he had a sister and a brother
matthew watson waite 27/8/1920 born castle ward northumberland
florence may waite born 1/5/1919 born castle ward northumberland
i have a marriage of george waite and a florence m waite in castle ward in 1919 and as my aunt may (flornece may was born 1919 we always called her may )was born in 1919 i assume it was a marriage because my granmother was pregnant
i have a death for my grandmother for the jan feb mar quarter in 1967 giving her age as 68
i have searched the birth records and can find a florence m watson born in 1896 in castle ward northumberland but that would make the age wrong as i know my gran died in dewsbury when i was 11
i also have a florence m watson born apr may jun quarter 1899
i have to be honest i have been looking at the one born castle ward but now i am doubting this as the year looks wrong
there are a number of george waite,s born in yorkshire around ci 1900 but i do not know my granfathers age or place of birth
any help or advice appreciated
dave

Hi Dave

Do you have a copy of the marriage between George Waite and Florence May Watson, if not that is probably the way to go.  You should then have confirmation of their fathers which would hopefully help us find them on census.
