Kirkwood of Old Monkland
« on: Saturday 07 January 12 05:07 GMT (UK) »
Hi  All,
I am trying to find a death of Willam Kirkwood and his wife Mary Buchanan. They were married on 7 Nov 1819 and were of the parish.
I believe they are the parents of ( I'm having trouble finding baptsims for these )
William Buchanan Kirkwood  (Came to Australia)
Margaret , Isabella ,Nicholas, Andrew, Thomas, Agnes. (these went to the U.S)
I found on the 1841 census these Kirkwood children with a Mary Mcrolskie 80yrs,Margaret 13yrs ,Nichol 10yrs,Thomas 7yrs and Agnes 5yrs .
Would be very grateful for any further advice on this family.

When did the children emigrate?

I can't see any baptisms for them on the OPR's

Hi Scanti,
I don't have full details on all of them but Nicholas (28yrs ) was in California by 1852 and is on the 1860 census for Contra Costa with Agnes 23yrs and also James Gay in the same household.
Isabella Kirkwood married 2 in lanarkshire, Robert Weir 1844, and David Ferguson 1862 they went to California by1863/4 (Both spouses fron Barony ).
William B Kirkwood came to Australia abt 1855 was married on the 10 Dec 1842 to Janet Marshall they had 4 children baptised at the Dunbeth Relief Church, Coatbridge, that I know of.(plus 2 in Australia)
Agnes and Margaret married .Nicholas,Thomas and Andrew did not marry.
Hope this helps,thanks Kerri
