Online English Geneaology
« on: Friday 06 January 12 05:08 GMT (UK) »
Most of my ancestors are from Scotland so I have used Scotlandspeople.gov.uk extensively. I have found that I have ancestors in England as well and an wondering if the English have a similar site to Scotlandspeople.

There isn't a single site, but many!

Ancestry
FindMyPast
GenesReunited - all spring immediately to mind.

FreeBMD.org - for Birth, Marriage and Death indexes
FreeReg - parish registers
FreeCen - census returns

At different times, I use all of the above! ;D

ScotlandsPeople is the official Scottish Government site for genealogical data in Scotland. There is no equivalent in England and Wales and the vacuum is filled by the various sites already mentioned.
Skewis (Wales and Scotland), Ayers (Maidenhead, Berkshire), Hildreth (Berkshire)
