Single Line Spacing on Microsoft Office 2007
« on: Thursday 05 January 12 13:44 GMT (UK) »
I am sure everyone knows the answer to this question EXCEPT ME ::)

I am trying to type up something in single line spacing and the computer seems to be set on double spacing.   I am sure it is simple but I cannot find the answer - how do I change to single spacing?

Hi,

Across the top select page layout and you should then see "spacing" .  Mine are both set at 0 points.

Sorry, I forgot to add that if this doesn`t work then click on the small arrow underneath in the box that says "Paragraph" and you will get more options eg Line Spacing - set it to single.

Hi Mo,

Thanks for that.   Sounds good - sadly, I have now set it to single and to "default" at single but it is still double!!!!   Have I got a "rogue" computer? or did I do something wrong or not do something?

Sue

Postscript:  Have altered something on the left to zero and it now works - I am delighted - have been in double spacing for a couple of years!   Stupid old woman!

Hi
I click on the second box along the top, AaBbCc, which states no spacing...
might work for you as well

best wishes

Not stupid at all!!   :)

Why is it that, whenever Microsoft (or anyone else for that matter) brings out a new version of something, they change all the defaults and hide the things you use most often??

Answers on a postcard please....

I have had the self same problem with Microsoft Office Starter since I bought this new Dell laptop last December.  Everything I have typed has been in double line spacing and I got to the point where I was about to download the latest version of Microsoft Works, which was on my old laptop, and which I much preferred.  I finally cracked it yesterday when I altered the button along the type which says AaBbCc no
spacing and hey presto it worked.  So you have my every sympathy, you are not stupid at all.

Correction to the above posting, have just noticed my word processing package is Microsoft Word Starter 2010 and not Office - sorry.  Another question though, does anyone out there know how I view a document before I print it off.  Was on the toolbar on Microsoft Works but cant find anything on Word.  I dont think I'd get a job in an office now!!

Busybod. Word is the word processor part of Office, so you are both talking the same thing  :)

What you need is called Print Preview. Can't tell you exactly where to find it in 2007/2010, as I'm still using 2003 (2007 was a major step back in functionality so I refused to upgrade)

Right, I'm glad we've got that cleared up!  I'll keep looking for print preview.  Thanks again.
