Dalziel (John and Ann Bell) vessel

I'm looking for the vessel that John and Ann Bell Dalziel came to Canada on .

John Dalziel was 58 when he, wife Ann, and 8 of their 10 children arrived in Quebec from Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1828.

Childrens Names are :William, Agnes, John, Walter, Anne, Christina, Jean, Mary, Catherine, & James


I've searched and searched but found nothing If anyone can help please let me know here

This is an early entry to Canada, so existing passenger lists, & transcribed online are few and far between... also date could be aprox. 1828 as you haven't the ship's list to prove year of immigration as yet. Yes, they did end up in Toronto  or king Vaughan Township, as it was called back then.  I have no official date of arrival, this is the only info I can gather as to when they did arrive.

Because their old barn exists in Black creek Pioneer village, which is very cool, by the way, this may have come from Toronto researchers who have found the passenger list,(although it should then have been available online) They may also have taken it from children's census entries...

I found this through doing a search for Vaughn Township and various sites for Vaughn Township Historical Society came up.

Doesn't give the passenger list but other info that you may find interesting as well as the fact that a member of the Dalziel family sold the barn and 14 acres that eventually became part of Black Creek Village.

Have you checked the 1852 census at automated genealogy.

I love those entries in ourroots, valerie, some stories are invaluable...
I have looked for some bad weather days in 1828 and it appears it was a rotton, cold and windy year which included a hurricane in May...so no narrowing it down by the weather...

I would have said there was no way he could have taken the land in 1828 for a first crop in 1829, but I am used to the western pioneers, starting from scratch...and since he bought the land already owned and worked, if he was a knowledgeable farmer, and had the family helping, it's possible. The months could be narrowed down-up to the latest seeding time in Ontario in order to reap....of which I'm not familiar, as the climate is considerably warmer there...

Since the family came from Scotland, have you looked for them in Donald Whyte's books - A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada Before Confederation (4 volumes)?  There might be something in there about your family and their arrival.  If your library doesn't have the set, the Toronto Public Library does:
