Anne Verdon and Michael O'Neill marriage.... Dublin?
« on: Monday 02 January 12 19:54 GMT (UK) »
I have a marriage cert for Michael O'Neill and bridget  Glennon in St. Kevins 6/9/1868 which states that Michael's parents are Michael O'Neill and Anne Verdon and in America at time of marriage.

On looking for other children of Michael snr and Anne, I found Baptismal records for Mary Jane O'Neill (16/1/1874), Michael Francis O'Neill (27/10/1876) and James Christopher O'Neill (24/10/1878). I presumed they are their children as parents are listed as Michael O'Neill and Jane verdon, but maybe I am wrong. The dates also seem quite late after the birth of Michael(c.1848) who got maried in 1868!! Also, that would mean they named two sons Michael. Looks like I have the wrong people but these are the only records of a Michael O'Neill and Anne/Jane Verdon I can find. If any help I do know that both Michael jnr and Michael Snr were stucco plasterers. Any clues gratefully accepted.

Thanks all

Ger

My instinct is that this is a different family

There is a marriage on familysearch.org for Michael O'Neill and Jane Verdon with matching references in 1870 Dublin South V12 P596

Michael O'Neill who married in 1868 was as you state born in 1848 approx
(He is listed at 1.6 Blackpitts on the 1901 census aged 52 and has died by 1911 when his widow is listed at 51.2 New St if I am correct)

This marriage would rule out his parents as the same couple in my opinion also by 1878 Anne would have been at least 48 having James Christopher (the last of the three births in the 1870s)

There may be a connection by marriage; for the record Mary Jane O'Neill born 1874 married John Reilly on Apr 10 1893
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

My McGraths lived at number 52 new street and several baptisms
etc are listed at that address,I think one of the daughters married
 an O'Neil too.
I am trying to put these records in order at the moment but
Margaret McGrath(parents James Mcgrath & Mary Doran) Married
a man with the surname O'Neil  but I have'nt found the marriage
record yet,then for 1891, I found a
second marriage for Margaret O'Neill(parents James Mcgrath and
Mary Doran) to a Michael O'Donohue  whose address is listed as
15 Charlemont street ,This Margaret McGrath/O'Neil / O'Donohue
would have been the sister of my Great grandmother whose maiden
name was Mary Anne Mcgrath whose Baptism and marriage gives
her parents  as James & McGrath  Mary Doran.
Number 52 New strreet is listed as a Public house on the 1901 and 1911
census but none of these surnames appear as residents then.
Google street view has an image of number 52 as a Public house,
Its on the corner of Long lane & New street Dublin 8.
