WOW - a big big thankyou to Sandra for all the information (and Shellyesq).  It just goes to show that information passed down that you believe to be accurate may not always be so.  I don't think any of our current family are aware of Elizabeth's marriage to a John Windle and that he was probably the violent and abusive alcoholic that my Great Aunt told me about (all these years we have been referring to her husband Roberts as the black sheep).  It is interesting that she was still married to William H Roberts when she was 58 years.  I wonder when she married Henderson (if indeed she did)?

Thanks also for the information on Robert Jones born March 1850 in Llaneliden, Wales.  I see he was widowed in 1900.  All I know of him (as passed down) was that he married in Escondido California and had only an adopted son called Howard 'Jenkins'/Jones.  If you can find any more information on him I would be most grateful.

Haven't come across anything on Howard "Jenkin" Jones.  With Roberts immigration date of 1882, the first available census to find him was 1900, the 1890 census was almost entirely destroyed by fire unfortunately.  Sorry.

Hello,
My grandmother was Jane Anna Windle, then she took the name Roberts when her mother Elizabeth remarried. I read the postings and thought I would send you information we recently received from a family member in the UK.  I don't know who sent it as it went through a few family members before I received it.

My grandmother went by Anna, married Francis Duffy and had 7 children. My mother was the 2nd youngest and is not listed in the attachment I sent you.  Elizabeth died before I was born so I never met her and am just starting to learn about her history. I had not heard of Henderson, I thought Roberts was her last husband.  When next I talk with my Aunt (the eldest) I will ask her about a third husband.
