Look up request SEABROOKE in Redbourn
« on: Wednesday 28 December 11 12:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to track down the birth of Michael Seabrook(e), born around 1807 in Redbourn (later married to Hannah Ivory on 10 Jan 1835 in Redbourn). Parents unknown (hence the look-up request). Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Would that be Redbourn in Hertfordshire ?

Do not think there is one in Hampshire :)

Hi, Ive done Seabrook and Ivory research in the past my grandmother being an Ivory. There are several online Seabrook researchers including Daniel in Australia and Susanne Seabrook.  I have the following from Daniel's database: Michael Seabrook b. 26/7/1807 Redbourn m. Hannah Ivory 10 1/1835 Rebourn. His parents were George Seabrook, farmer of Beeson End Farm Redbourn, born abt 1775 Wheathampstead d. 11/10/1865 Redbourn. Married Susannah Smith 17/7/1797 Hemel Hempstead. I have photo of grave in Redburn churchyard.  George's parents were George Seabrook and Elizabeth Humphrey. The earliest Seabrook in this line that I have found is John Seabrook, yeoman of Beeson End Farm who died in 1680. The Seabrooks and Ivorys were very well known farming families in the Redbourn/Harpenden/Wheathampstead and Kimpton area.

hello caterpillar20

Suzanne is the certainly the one you need, she has done full extensive research on all of the Seabrooks from Redbourn, she has done births, marriages and deaths , plus wills and has it all beautifully documented in folders with individual family trees for each branch. She is on holiday at the moment but when she returns i will let her know that you are doing your research, you could be related. Good luck for the future, are you  related to the Sarah Seabrook that was murdered by Donald Lytton?

Bye for now

Jackie

Thanks all - this sounds very promising... I'd be delighted to be in touch with both Susanne and Daniel. Sadly, I'm not a Seabrook at all - Seabrook was the maiden name of my other half's mother and I'm picking my way thorugh that line at the moment (all of her Seabrooks were in Haprenden, until you get to Michael). I was aware of the Redbourn/Harpenden/Wheathampsted connection, but have only really started digging beyond GRO records on the Seabrooks now.

There are a lot of Seabrooks over the border in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire as I have a Mary Seabrook in Pitstone who, whilst I suspect I know who her parents were, I can't find a baptism for because the PRs in the parish in the 1650s are missing and she doesn't appear in the few BTs that exist.  Typically her "father" only mentioned his sons in his Will ..... ::)

I  too am descended from George SEABROOK and Elizabeth HUMPRHEY of Redbourn through their eldest son Michael's daughter Mary Ann.

George and Elizabeth had so many children it seems that their descendants could populate a small town!
