McAnespie/McAnespy in Cookstown
« on: Friday 23 December 11 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Anyone got any information on this family?  Am trying to find a death date for Jane McAnespy of Cookstown who was 42 in 1911, and allegedly 'died young'

Have you searched for her in online civil registration index? (goes up to 1921 for N.I. counties)

Here's the family in 1911 for reference- Jane was born in Co. Armagh- could she have died there instead of Cookstown?

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Yes, that's her on the 1911 census.  I will have another look on Family Search, but I suspect she died after 1922 - not all that young really!!  The family info is a bit vague and I will have to ask a few more leading questions!!

My Espey ancestors were from Cookstown and I have an email from a relative in Ireland that confirms one of the McAnespy clan saying they were related to the Espey/Espie/Espy families there. Do you have other questions?

Hello sword.  I have moved on a lot further since I posted that query, and find that the McAnespy's originated from James McAnespy(a coachman) born 1770 in Co. Tyrone.  All this information is available on LDS Pedigree Files.   I am about to compile a document for the family (bearing in mind that all information is NOT documented but I do have the death of Henry McAnespy who died in Scotland, and this gives the name of his mother, father and wife.  Scottish death certificates are SO informative!  If you want to communicate with me further, send me a PM and I will let you see what I have found.

I am looking for a Catherine McAnespy who married Thomas McGrath Aughagalla/Coalisland Co. Tyrone and moved to Philadelphia early 1890s. Catherine possibly had a sister Anna who married Nolan and also emigrated.

Grateful for any info if there might be a link?

Thanks

Matt,  Have you got their marriage details?  It would be handy to have the names of their fathers which should be on the certificate.  In the meantime, have a look at this website.  It might be of some use.
