I followed them through to 1911 where they state 3 children born alive;  3 living.  Therefore, it looks as if their 1881 return is accurate:  Edward A 12;  Ellen 10 and Thomas 8.

It was a bit confusing as boundary changes moved Llansilin into Shropshire - Oswestry!

Yes and those are the only relatives (father, aunt and uncle) with which my mother was familiar - her father never mentioned a brother so I guess it is a mistake in the "male" column as a son. Thanks for looking. I have no eliminated the Malmesbury connection as I found a birth for an Allen Hughes there so I think this thread has reached its end!
