Hi,

Can anyone provide any details on the regiment from the cap badge in this photograph?

Thanks.

Any chance of a higher resolution and a bit larger?

A pure guess at the moment is Artillery.

Hi Phil,

I'm afraid the photograph isn't very clear.  The best I can do is attached.

Thanks!

It's enough to make me change my mind about it being Artillery, but not enough to make out an alternative that's not based on pure guess work.

The bottom  part of the pic is glare from the chinstrap, the right hand side of the badge looks like part of a Maltese Cross with crown above and scroll under.
Could be Wiltshire Regt, London Regts. KRCC
But will need clarity of the pic to be sure, but I agree with Phil, this is pure guesswork.

Good evening,

It's a cross pattee, The Wiltshire regt. The picture is ghosted but you can make out the shape. It's like a square with a slot cut from each corner towards the middle surmounted by the kings crown with a scroll underneath. If you look carefully you will see it.

Thanks all,

The Wiltshire Regiment would seem to fit in nicely as I know he originated from Swindon.  Just need to find his service number now!
