McKivitt, KcKivett, McKevitt Co Down - Help!
« on: Saturday 17 December 11 09:01 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for William McKiv(e)tt and family, could be McKiv(i)tt, or even McK(e)vitt) born in Ireland, possibly Warrenpoint, around 1829.   I have his son Patrick McKivett’s marriage cert to Mary Ann Mathews in 1889 in England.  From census details both were born in Ireland. This was a catholic marriage. Mary Ann's father was John Mathews.  Any help with this family in Co Down would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Hi,
As you indicate there are multiple spellings for "McKevitt" in the Warrenpoint records, including "McKevit" and "McKavitt". There are quite a lot of McKevitt baptism records - which go back to approx 1827. I don't see a William baptism in 1829. A William married to a Mary McCourt in 1853 had three sons; Eugene 1853, Patrick 1855 and John 1858. The only 2 baptisms for a William and a William Joseph are in 1850 and 1894 respectively. Obviously Patrick's marriage record won't be in the Warrenpoint records and i presume Mary Anne was at least living in England..
Hope this helps a little.

Thank you so much Answer for replying to my post.  The marriage  to Mary McCourt looks very promising. I was only estimating at 1829, were there any baptisms for William McK (any variation) at all around that time? I am so grateful for your reply.   :) :)
