There are about 5 ancestry trees in the name of Edward Henderson Ashley - would it be worth contacting those tree owners to see what further information they have. One of those tree entries seems to indicate there might have been 2 children.

You can search for public tree entries - and contact owners of public trees - on www.mundia.com -  which is a sister site to Anc.

You should be able to access the public tree entries from your own anc. subscription.
www.mundia.com is a sister site of anc that doesn't need a subscription to view public tree's..

Hi Noeline,

Always better to have information twice than not at all. 

If you contact the tree owners you may learn something new - for example the owner of the Kinney tree may be able to tell you more on the daughter of Edward and Gerturde who married into the Kinney line and has 3 children. They obviously also have the name of the son if you explore the tree. 
Edward and Gertrude did not marry until 1935 in Michigan so both of the children are still living people, so cannot do anymore on here. Perhaps the release of the 1940 census in April will also help in your search.
Hopefully someone will see you messages on here and get in touch.

Will have another look - had contemplated contacting the Kinney tree owners.  Got a reply from the Chula Vista library acknowledging my request for any obits for the Bruce family, but could be several weeks before they can get to my request.  Many thanks for your assistance and interest.
