Morallee
« on: Friday 09 December 11 23:49 GMT (UK) »
Does any one have any info on the branch of Morallees who emmigrated to Australia in 1948. Ralph Morallee , his wife Annie and two children Mary and Ralph Jnr. Ralph senior was my fathers cousin. We are descended from James Morallee born 1805 and who went to Wales ( Mold ) and started the Welsh branch of the Family ( Sometimes spelled Mrrle or Morrle ). Thanks. :)

Hello  :)

Welcome to RootsChat!

RootsChat is meant for finding ancestors, rather than living relatives.

Personal details of any people known or thought to be living will be removed, in accordance with RootsChat policy, to avoid spamming and other abuses. So people here will be able to give you general tips and hints how to proceed, but not any concrete details.

You will also find more tips here:

Topic: Tracing Living Relatives

and
Topic: Searching for living relatives and Rootschat

You can also search on the National Archives of Australia site (try various spellings, e.g. single l, no s, etc):
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/using/search/index.aspx

Perhaps this would be better on the Australia Board? If so, click on "Report to Moderator" on this Post and request it is moved to that board.

Once you have made another 2 postings you will be able to exchange private information such as email addresses with other rootschatters.

New members must make at least three postings before being allowed to use the PM facility.
See Help-Page:  http://www.rootschat.com/help/pms.php

If anyone has any information regarding living people, please send a PM to barji rather than post details on this thread. Thank you   :)

Kind regards
Morgan

Thanks for your reply ! Very kind of you to answer. The info I am after is concerning my ancestors. This Morallee Family is no longer alive. I want to know what happened to them. Ralph Morallee was my Grandmothers brother. He was born in 1905. He was the youngest, My Grandma was the eldest. Ralph took his family off to Australia 1948. and he died there . Thanks. :)

Hello  :)

I found the death of Ralph Snr in South Australia 1958, and Ralph Joseph in 2001.

If you search this newspaper archive for MORALLEE, you will see references in Mile End, Australia, earlier than 1948 which suggests that Ralph may have followed other family members there.

I also found notices of the marriage of Ralph Joseph at St Peter's Church, Gleneig, on Saturday 10th Jan 1953. These appeared in the Adelaide Advertiser on 5th and 12th Jan 1953.

http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?q=morallee

Also article on Mary's engagement, and this "Lost" advert by Ralph: "WOULD person finding kitbag initials R.J.M.. at Windy Point, Sat. night, please notify Mr. RJ Morallee. 14a Victoria st., Mile End? Reward."

Hopefully some members of the Australia Morallee family will see your Post and contact you very soon.  :D

Kind regards
Morgan

Hi Jill

Just happy that I could help.  :D

I have traced a few of my rellies on a social networking site; it's easy once you know where to look! There are also online telephone directories, etc. You could also try a letter to a local newspaper.

Good luck with  your search and Happy Christmas!
Morgan

There aren't many of us left in the world, but the Morallee family is still alive!

What's left of us are still in the UK (now Birmingham based).
I do know a couple of other Morallee's based around England.

My grandfather was originally from the Durham area (specifically Lanchester) and the names you mention ring a bell as my ancestors too!

I am also in touch with a number of Morallee's in Australia.
I know they are definite relatives of mine (we have the same photo of our ancestors taken in Durham!).

One of the guys I am in contact in Australia is related to a couple of people you mention in your post to.

Ralph Snr. (Ralph George Morallee) was his grandfather (his wife was Annie Maltby Bowery).
Ralph Jnr. (Ralph Joseph Morallee) was his father and Mary Morallee was his Auntie.

I've been desperate to trace my tree as far as it will go and am interested as to where all the other Morallee's disappeared to!

Paul.
