1848 coal mine accident need help reading cause of death please

Hi there just recieve death cert of my 3x great grandad Robert harper who died at heathfield colliery in west bromwich on 9th february 1848. I make out scorched and burnt by an explosion of sulpher in a coal pit but what does it say after that ??

oh yeah of cause i see it now youve said it, i struggle reading this old writing. Very interested with this accident ive done abit of research on it, theres a old article about what happened when i searched on google, it was at heathfield colleiry at west bromwich but i cant find where its located on old maps and i would like to see a old photo of it ?? thanks for working out what it says for me :)

Yes, I can see manslaughter too. Pity they don't reinstitute such verdicts nowadays, it might give Network Rail food for thought!

thanks for the replys yes i looked at those articles very very interesting i printed them out and put them in my port folio type family album ! I had a feeling he died in a coal mining accident before i recieved the cert as in the 1841 census he was a miner and in 1851 his wife was a widow he was only 30 years old when he died such a shame thanks for the help guys much appriciated

If you know the date and the name of a person who died in a coal-mining  accident (in scotland), there is a website http://www.scottishmining.co.uk/332.html that tells you all about it, and the newspaper records :)
