Hello  :)

Elizabeth and Henry did indeed marry in Mothell CI in 1823 as from www.rootsireland.ie in the Kilkenny section but when I type in Ransford as her fathers surname...it tells me that I have no matches...could be that she was legitimate and fathers name was not registered on birth cert.

Annie
The surnames, which I am interested in are; Maternal side: Ryan, Kevin, Grant, Grady, Gleeson, Walsh, Dwyer, Paternal side: O' Dwyer, Woodlock, Rochford & Britton - all in Tipperary; and Kelly and Hoynes in Laois.

Ryan, Campbell, Luttrell, Grant, Grahame, Bainbridge and Brown in Queensland, Australia

Tighe in Victoria, Australia.

Grant in Philadelphia, Sullivan and Penny in New York; and Britton in Connecticut

Hi there,

I think the reason is that the website does not have the actual records, that is why it throws out no matches

To obtain the actual records from the Parish or Church is the only way to find the Fathers name.

One way of doing this is to find the Church and email the Local Bishop or Priest to get the Original Document.

What I have done for instance =
1 I have emailed the bishop of Ossary in Kilkenny to source this Record. No Reply as yet.
2 I will contact the RCB in Dublin 14 to ask them to do a search.

Hope this helps

Marriages records from the 1820s would not usually include details of father

e.g. Carlow CofI marriage 1-Feb-1823

and  Dublin CofI marriage 19-Feb 1822
