Theodore John Uzielle (Uzielli )
« on: Wednesday 07 December 11 11:58 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help.  I am trying to find out any information regarding Theodore John Uzielle.  he was in the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment - Tank Corps.
I believe that he was awarded the Military Cross, the DSO and the Legend of Honour.  What I really would like to know is what he won these medals and honours for.

I have attached a copy of his WW1 medal roll ;

Thanks
SuzNor

SuzNor,

This link will give you all the medal index cards for him that are not on Ancestry (assuming that there is only one T J Uzielli). They are for gallantry awards, mentioned in despatches etc.

I'll have a look at the London Gazette in a while.

Suzanne,

This is a search of the London Gazette on his exact name for WW1:

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0i50/

I can see evidence that he was awarded the MC and DSO, but it won't give me any hits for them (not unusual).

It looks like his service record has been destroyed. I can find him in WO 338, but nothing comes up on the NA Catalogue.

Also if he was Temp/Lt Col I think the various unit war diaries would be very worth digging into...As he goes from Lt to Maj and then T/Lt Col....Nice

Hi scrimnet

Thanks for this - do you know where these diaries would be?  I have found some sources at the Kings College Archives but have not yet tried to access them.
