dora leech worked as a cook at ladies college,guernsey,according to 1911 census.can anyone tell me what happened to her afterwards,ie,did she get married.thank you in advance,tom

Hi Tom,

 I checked the marriage index from 1911 until 1932 but found no marriages for a Dora Leech that took place in Guernsey within that time, only three were shown, for Christina A. Leech (March 4 1926), Albert John Leech (July 1 1926), and Beatrice Leech (19 Aug 1931).

 Sorry for the negative result.

I thought I'd check the UK Free BMD site, checking from 1911 to 1931.  I found only one Dora Leech who married an Edwin Airey in Sunderland District Q2 1917.

They had two children also in the Sunderland District

Dora Airey nee Leech Died Q1 1937 in the Sunderland District aged 48 years.  Year of birth 1889.

May be a long shot, but you never know

Yes, will do. Guernsey was indeed occupied from June 30th 1940 to May 9th 1945. Some 2000 Channel Islanders were deported during this time to prison camps, most notably for Guernsey people the one in Biberach. A short report can be found here:
