I have had a reply from the FD's,part of which i will post here,the rest I will PM to you as they may be living people,

Lillian Madeline MARSHALL died on the 6th March 1950 aged 49 at Auckland hospital. Her usual address was 1 Carlton Gore Rd Grafton Auckland.
The Purewa Plot was purchased in the name of James MARSHALL of Kawakawa Bay Northland.
Lillian's father was Solomon FINEY
and mother ? NEWTON
Lillian was born in Auckland and also married there at the age of 23 to James Marshall.
They had two sons living at her death aged 22 and 23  a daughter was aged 19.

There is no information on who arranged the funeral except that the account was to be sent to a P V McMahon of Opotiki.
This does not solve the CHAPMAN name but it may be of help.

I wonder if your father changed his christian names as well as surname?

Sorry, my phone was out of credit so ive had no data. I tried the auckland voting papers and have got the two sons addresses of hopefully my aunt. Wish us eluck as im writing them both a letter and hopefully, fingers and toes crossed, we'll get the last piece of the puzzle. I think dad was born robert marshall but something happened and he changed it. As soon as i hear back from them ill post the results. THANK YOU BOTH for getting my brother and i to thi ;Ds nervous point.

We did it my angels! Ive just had paulas son email me back. Sounds like you got it bang on. He has't said what but the facts we gave him have added up. I have a cousin and a auntie! And they want to make contact! Ive got to get the landline on then give him a ring and hes happy to put the last piece in. THANK YOU both for all of your help.
