Hello. Just an acknowledgement. Home now at 11pm after a hectic three days away, and out again first thing in the morning. Will reply in a few days time, when I'm able to do justice to your offers of help. Many thanks - Alan.
EDIT. Hello again. Took the time to dial up the 'Roy' Lowlands map of Renfrew/Cathcart this morning. I was timed out on my first try, but with a second try, and some data in hand, got to pan the Renfrew Map. While I've never used ‘nls’ to view this set before, I have for the Ordnance ones. A great service, especially if you have a faster service.
I do have example clips of the Roy maps, which have been on forwarded to me, by other researchers, as past of their notes, and or, illustrating some web pages I've visited.
Thanks Skoosh for the suggestion.
- Alan.
PS. What I'm after is the maps pin pointing locations of the Parish Church / Kirks for researchers tracing OPR records and the likes, c1800. If a record says Bogtoun, Castlemilk etc you can find it on the Ordnance map, then go looking for the neighbouring places of worship. Years later I’ve found a missing child on a neighbouring Church record, but with a slightly different spelling, so missed on a family name search, but would have been found on a Hugh Wallis Batch Search had I known about that Church. The Cathcart record of that time lists sibling order so is great for pointing out gaps in your findings. Just trying to help others, from my experiences of searching.
