Roade parish records - Meakins II
« on: Sunday 04 December 11 23:00 GMT (UK) »
Hello -

Is it possible once again to get a Meakins lookup for Northamptonshire?  This time for death?   Please advise if my two requests below are not sufficiently specific.  Thank you.

1)  Thomas Meakins born about 1770, deceased possibly 1841, possibly in Roade.  Other possible places are Potterspury or Moreton Pinkney.   Spouse name was probably Ann.

2)  Ann Meakins born about 1771, deceased sometime following the 1841 Census, probably in Roade.  She is the widow of Thomas and may have lived with daughter Elizabeth Meakins in 1840s.   An Ann Meakins death was registered in Hardingstone Dist in 4 quarter of 1845.  (Vol 15, p. 171)

I continue to be grateful and appreciative for the efforts made on my behalf.

Hi

Can't find a death for Thomas Meakins for that period (in fact I couldn't find anything concrete for a Thomas and Ann), however, a couple of Williams' (he may have been William Thomas)...

He wasn't on the 1841 census with wife and daughter; he may have died or lived elsewhere.

Source, Free BMD:
June 1840, William Meakins, Potterpury. V. 15, P. 250.
March 1841, William Meakins, potterspury. V. 15, P. 250.

There was nothing significant in 1838/39 apart from a Zillah Meakins.

There a few Meakins on the BMD in the 1840's if you are looking for other family members.

Hope this may be of some use.

Regards
Geoff

Hi

I have just seen this rather good site, 'Families of Roade Northamptonshire', it looks quite informative with some sourced material.

I checked briefly under 'Meakins' and there appears to be some of what you are looking for. I.E. Thomas appears to be there with no forename, but other info looks good, interestingly no marriage record for him or Ann. I suspect only the PR's will confirm one way or the other.

Hope this is of some use.
