Hi again,
OK, so it looks like any possible lead might be worth following up...
Have a look at the 1911 census. If your Albert was born in Ontario, he should be on this. You can search and view this census for free at the automatedgenealogy site. There are quite a few Albert Longs living in Ontario then, but if you narrow down the ages - to someone who would be having children in the 1920s and 1930s, that makes the pool a bit smaller. There are 3 in Toronto who might fit. They all live in Toronto East. One is 15, one is 9 and one is 14. The 15 and 9 year old were born in England, while the 14 year old was born in Ontario. This shows all of the Alberts in Ontario. You can click on the ones you want to see, and you will go to the census transcription page. From there, you can see the actual census images by selecting Split View at the top of the page:
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0hv4/Here is the split view page for the Albert born in Ontario. His background is listed as Irish - so this ties in with some of the other information on this thread.
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/SplitView.jsp?id=80454 This 14 year old Albert is living with his brother John (age 28) and John's wife Annie (also age 28). John and Annie have a daughter Cecilia. There is a brother in law and aunt (in relation to John) with the last name Calfield. John was born in Ontario too.
Something to consider

PS - I have free access to the Toronto Star. I will see what I can find too. So far, I haven't been able to find any deaths for Albert or Eleanor Long.
